This is a 1:48 scale model set of the RWD-8, a Polish training and liaison aircraft from World War II, known for its ease of piloting and safety.

The RWD-8 was a Polish training aircraft featuring a mixed structure and a high-wing (umbrella) system, equipped with a classic, fixed undercarriage. Its primary version was powered by a single PZInż Junior engine, delivering 120 HP. The prototype's maiden flight occurred in 1933, leading to serial production between 1934 and 1939, with approximately 550 units manufactured. Notably, the aircraft was not equipped with fixed armament.


Initially, the RWD-8 was developed in response to a competition by the Air and Gas Defense League for a new initial training aircraft. Engineer Stanisław Wigura led the early development at the Experimental Aviation Workshop in Warsaw, completing the first prototype in 1933. The aircraft emerged victorious in the competition, praised for its user-friendly controls, high flight safety, comfortable environment for both student and instructor, and cost-effectiveness.


The Polish army quickly recognized its potential, placing an order for military versions in 1934, which were subsequently produced at the PWS plant in Biała Podlaska. While civilian RWD-8 aircraft were widely used by flying clubs across Poland, the military variants were dedicated to initial pilot training at aviation schools in Dęblin, Bydgoszcz, and Krosno. During the September 1939 campaign, RWD-8 aircraft also served crucial roles as liaison machines.


Following September 1939, many RWD-8 planes were transferred to other countries, including Romania, Finland, and Hungary, extending their service beyond Poland's borders.
